Once upon a time there was this person named Julie. After getting new carpeting and some new furniture for her living room, Julie was not pleased with the corner of the room by the front door. It was plain and uninteresting. She wanted to liven it up with something, but what? You couldn't put anything right in the corner because the doorway was too close to the wall. With two glass window panels in the door it wasn't easy deciding just what to do. Put curtains on the door? Maybe, but she didn't think she'd like that, covering the small windows that were there. Put something ornamental over the doorway? Well, not that either. Paint the door a bright color? Absolutely not! So what, then? Being a hobbyist at making stained glass items, I suggested she put stained glass windows in the door. Wouldn't that be great!!? I'd make the two window panels if she'd pay for the materials. At first Julie seemed only lukewarm to this idea, but after she and her husband mulled it over for a while, stained glass began to sound like an attractive idea. "Let's look into it and see what's involved," became their thinking. Ultimately, stained glass window panels did replace the plain window glass in the door. This is the story of how those panels evolved, from the initial concept to their final installation. |
This corner of Julie's living
room was plain and uninteresting. She wanted to brighten it up. "Stained glass window panels?"
I suggested. (Outside foliage is visible through the clear window panes.)
